Boston: Houghton, Mifflin, (1960). First edition, review copy, inscribed by the author in 1988. Author's first book. This copy originally came to Carl May, a book reviewer for the Nashville Tennessean. Mr. May's ownership signature is on the endpaper. Laid into the book, in addition to the review slip, is a note to Mr. May from someone at the Tennessean, "Carl - Left you a book by a young man from Kentucky. R." In 1988, Mr. Berry inscribed this copy on the title page to William Boozer, a fellow Kentuckian and regionally noted collector of Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky literature. Inscription reads, "To William Boozer, with good wishes from Henry Co. 4/22/88. Wendell Berry." Book condition is VG+, square and clean. Dust jacket is VG with a tanned spine (but with the printing still quite black and distinct) and flap margins. A quarter-inch tear to rear panel. Buchnummer des Verkäufers 000065
