A handsome and very scarce copy of this selection of extracts on agriculture from the works of Gustaf Adolf Gyllenborg; edited with additions by William Pilkinton. Gustaf Adolf Gyllenborg was a Swedish Count and assessor in the National College of Commerce, who wrote many notable works on agriculture and its development specifically in relation to chemistry. This work contains the Count's array of 'Chymical Works on Agriculture', with descriptions of his in-depth experiments on vegetables, seeds and vegetation, manure. soil and more. A third edition copy, 'published by subscription'. With a list of subscriber's following the preface. Rebound in an attractive half cloth binding over marbled paper boards, with a black crushed morocco spine label. Featuring a bookplate of a 'William Blake' tipped to the front pastedown, and a bookplate of a 'J. Hainstock Anderson' to the second free-endpaper.
