Inhaltsangabe: The dramatic story of Germany's attempt to rally German-Americans to its support before World War II is told with authority in this full account of the National Socialist movement in the United States. Drawing from records of the groups collectively known as the German-American Bund and a rich store of captured German documents, Dr. Diamond describes the Bund's origins and leaders, its membership and ideology.
Über den Autor: SANDER A. DIAMOND, holds a doctorate in German history. He is Professor of History at Keuka College in Central New York and has served as Visiting Professor of German History at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the State University of New York at Binghamton. In 1979 he was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship and in May 1997 was named Professor of the Year by his colleagues.
For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Diamond has written about the Nazi Years. The Nazi Movement in the United States, 1924-1941, was first published by Cornell University Press in 1974, and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in History and was used in connection with a PBS special. Dr. Diamond's next book, Herr Hitler: Amerikas Diplomaten, Washington und deer Untergang Weimars, examined how much the U.S. Department of State knew about the rise of Hitler in the 1920s and was published by Droste Verlag in Dusseldorf in 1985.
Dr. Diamond is also the author of three novels: Starik (1988) and The Red Arrow (1990), both co-authored with Jeff Rovin and published by E.P. Dutton, and The German Table: the Education of a Nation (1999) published by Disc-Us Books.
Dr. Diamond and his wife Susan live on lovely Keuka Lake, in Central New York.
