Nessie is a book about the fabled Scottish monster said to exist in Loch Ness. Two professors want to find out if Nessie really does exist and set up an expedition to prove or disprove its existence. Nessie is found, but it has a young one. They decide to protect the specie from the public. Nessie should not be put in danger by the public intrusion into their lives. She and her young one need to remain secluded in Loch Ness and to continue as a legend only.

The Beginning of Our Adventure
One late afternoon in November Don Landers returned home after playing eighteen holes of golf with his friends. It was Dons birthday. Don just turned forty-one today. As Don unlocked the door and entered the house, he noticed a great aroma. "Yes," he thought, "That is prime rib I smell." His wife Jean is a great cook. She cooked better than his mother did and Don appreciated her talents in the kitchen. Don said, "Hi my love," and kissed Jean. Don and his wife Jean had two young adorable children. One was a son seven years old named Gregory and the other was a daughter five years old named Beth. As usual, when they heard Dad come home they both would scurry to him with hellos and hugs. Don knew that he was a lucky man to have such a loving wife and two adorable children.
Don prepared a cocktail for the two of them while Jeans dinner preparations continued. He went to kitchen, talked with her and watched her as the two of them sipped on the drink. Soon the scrumptious meal was ready. Jean had included mashed potatoes and gravy. The dinner also included Dons favorite vegetable baby carrots. He opened a bottle of vintage red robust Chianti to enjoy with dinner.
The table was already set with their best silverware and china. Don was very pleased and yelled to the two children. "Greg, Beth the two go get your hands washed now and get to the table. The dinner was ready." He provided a blessing and the four enjoyed the great dinner while talking to one another. Don lifted his wine glass declaring, "Jean this is a very nice surprise and I love you." Jean immediately replied, "I love you too and happy birthday Don." Greg said, "Happy Birthday Dad. Beth and I got our money together and purchased you a present." Greg continued, "Wait a minute and I will go get it from my bedroom." He went to his bedroom and returned with the gift saying to Don, "Here dad, we bought you a new putter to use for the next time you play golf." Don looked at Jean. Then he said to Greg and Beth after opening the gift, "This is a great putter and I will get lots of use out of it, thank you both." Greg and Beth in unison said, "You are welcome dad."
After a great dinner, the family decided to settle into the living room to watch some news on the television before going to bed. Don and Jean drank more of the bottle of wine opened earlier. Beth and Greg were in the kitchen making some popcorn for them to snack on before bedtime.
Don turned on the television and a travel program appeared on the screen. The subject of the program was the legend of the Loch Ness Monster of Scotland. Five guests were questioning if in fact, there could be a real monster in the dark depths of Loch Ness, or could it be just some joke played upon the public. This sounded interesting to both Jean and Don. They decided to watch the program instead of news. Beth and Greg came into the den. They asked what we were watching and Jean told them it was a documentary program about a monster proclaimed to exist in the Loch Ness of Scotland. Greg said, "That sounds like it could be interesting and I hope they show some pictures of the monster." Beth proclaimed, "Yes."
The panels' discussion dealt with the tourism, the money made by tourism in Scotland and the people around Loch Ness. They whole family continued to watch and became interested in the subject of the Loch Ness Monsters possible existence. The program held their interest until the end.
Jean, Don and the kids discussed the program as they always do when they find something interesting. Jean said, "The program about the existence of the Loch Ness Monster has aroused my curiosity." Don replied, "Yes I know what you mean. I also found it very intriguing. Guess it is our inquisitive nature to wonder about the unknown." Jean said, "Yes it must be our education that makes us want to know even more." Greg said, "Oh hogwash, the two of you are always finding new subjects to write journals about and can take any subject and write about it, it doesn't have to be something unknown. I imagine you could write a paper on why they don't make toothpicks out of bamboo too if you wanted." Jean and Don looked at one anther smirking and Jean said, "Don, that's a good idea, we might even give that a try too, what do you think?" Don replied, "I'll think more about that." Greg said, "Now you two are teasing me again so I will just keep quiet." Don said, "Ok you two, it is time for bed so get with it."
Don has a Doctorate degree in Archaeology from Harvard University and studied Mythology obtaining a graduate degree in Applied Science for Harvard. Jean and Don found one another in the library on a summer night in July. Yes, it was love at first sight and that was the end of being single.
Jean also has impeccable credentials. She is a professor of Animal Behaviorism from Yale University and had a Doctorate from Harvard in Ocean science.
Jean and Don enjoyed delving into subjects such as does Nessie really exist because they want to find the correct answers to questions that are speculative. Both Jean and Don feel that if something is not a proven scientific fact that it is worth of investigation. In their minds, it is false until proven true.
Jean said, "Don lets get to bed now because both of us have classes to teach in the morning and I want to be alert." Don replied, "That's true and to show you I am a gentleman I will even let you take your shower first." Jean replied, "Good man," as she headed towards the bathroom.
The next morning after the family breakfast, Jean and Don started to prepare for the classes they would teach that day. Greg and Beth headed outside to wait for the school bus to take them to their school. A half hour went by and while sipping on coffee Don looked up at Jean. He asked her, "What are you thinking about that's putting those wrinkles in your forehead?" Jean replied, "That damned Loch Ness Monster still concerns me and I want to check into the subject more." Don replied, "Yes, I can see that and I was also thinking about the monster and the possibility that it could actually exist."
Jean and Don decided to learn more about the Loch Ness Monster before concluding that is was a hoax or the truth. Don said, "Lets meet at the library after completion of our classes and do some research. When we finish the research we can go home to pick the children I will take the four of us out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant." Don did not have to say another word for Jeans immediate reply was, "Yes, I would enjoy that." The two of them then went to Harvard University to teach their scheduled classes.
Don thought, "I know that during some of my classes my mind wandered off into the subject of the Loch Ness Monster. I was curious if Jean's mind wandered also giving any thought to the monster during her classes. Guess I will just have to wait until I see her to find out, but I will venture a guess that it had also crossed her mind. We are very much alike mentally and seem to be almost symbiotic."
At approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, Jean and Don met at the library in the outer lobby. They then entered and found books to read for two hours. Don said, "Let's take some of the books home with us to read later." Jean replied, "Good idea," and the two of them left to pick up Greg and Beth to go eat at their favorite Italian restaurant.
