Sejnowski is Francis Crick Professor and Director of the Computational Neurobiology Laboratory at the Salk Institute, an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Distinguished Professor at the University of California, San Diego. He was a member of the advisory committee for President Obama's BRAIN Initiative.
