This book was intended for residents of England thinking to emigrate to New Zealand around the 1850's. As stated by the author "things in England cannot much longer continue as they have been: somebody must move off. The question therefore, becomes - who will go?" Earp's purpose in writing this book was "to supply intending emigrants with the information requisite to enable them to effect their purpose certainly and economically."
