Small edition of perhaps 20 - 30 copies. Printed wrappers, small 4to, 23 cm, pp [165]-180. Uncommon separate printing: from 1894 twenty copies of any paper printed in the Transactions were presented to the writer, and presumably a few more were run off. A paper read before the Bibliographical society, 15 October 1923. From the text: "I propose this afternoon. merely to offer some preliminary and elementary observations on certain aspects of book-making, a knowledge of which is essential to the pursuit of finer issues. A great deal of what is written in Mr. McKerrow's admirable Notes on Bibliographical Evidence for Literary Students and Editors, though that work is confined to the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries, applies without qualification to later printing. The criteria of chain-lines and watermarks." Scarce - no copy on JISC Discover. Yapp edges slightly darkened and creased, otherwise a Near Very Good copy. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers ABE-51487
