London: Warne, 1930. First Edition. Very Good hardcover, leopard symbol on green cloth, light foxing to endpapers, w/o dustwrapper F[rederick] A[nnesley] M[ichael] Webster's short dedictatory epistle is to Captain Tracey-Philips, with whom the author had actual adventures in Africa. Jungle adventure set in various quarters of Africa and in South America. A curious work that must have been daring its day; for instance, an author known as Rhodda Storm is actually the Princess Lahila Mir, who is married to an African black -- that had to have been quite an extreme idea in 1930, yet when someone speaks in derogatory terms of white royalty marrying "a nigger," Webster comments that the attitude was "based entirely upon principle or prejudice according to your point of view." But the main thread of the tale regards treasure-hunting and the discovery of Egyptian and Toltec Lost Races. Prehistoric animals, crocodile worshippers, reincarnation, fantastic adventures at every turn. Scarce title. Buchnummer des Verkäufers 5809
