2 parts bound as 1. Blue cloth covers with gold lettering on the front cover and spine which is slightly soiled. Light blue decorative borders on front cover and bands on spine are clean. Covers exhibit light wear on corners. Light bumping and wear on edges and spine ends. Moderate wear and soiling to front cover. Light shelf wear and soiling to spine and back cover. Gift inscription to previous owner on the upper corner of the inside front cover. Light yellowing to inside front and back covers, ffep's, bfep's and text due to age. Text and the many illustrations are otherwise clean and unmarked. Hinges are tight. Volume one of two. Illustrated with 142 very nice full page watercolor drawings, 67 b&w photos and 300 line drawings and maps. All are in fine condition. Chapters detailing the movement of water, seasons in the sea, the planktonic crustacea, the puzzle of vertical migration and much more. All books are individually examined and described. Never ex-lib unless stated.
