In this continuation, Sophie is unfaithful, incurring the wrath of Emile.Volume II in this set includes some of Rousseau's translations, such as the first book of Tacitus' 'History, and Seneca's 'Apocolocyntosis'. This volume is printed with the original language on the recto, and the French translation to the verso.Perhaps most importantly, this set includes the first six books of Rousseau's 'Confessions', which was all that was published at that time. The controversial autobiography contains his confessions of the first fifty-three years of his life. This was one of the first major autobiographies, detailing the accounts of Rousseau's exploits, and humiliating and shameful moments.Collated, complete. In a full calf binding.
