Originally published by John T. Norman in 1879, the text of this volume is from the 1887 edition. Black and white illustrations and photos throughout. A flawless copy.Ogden and his father were tackle makers, and the author is credited with inventing a useful basket seat, as well as two flies: Invicta and Ogden's Fancy. In his introduction to this edition, David Burnett posits that because Ogden worked in flies to the exclusion of live bait, "his influence facilitated the spread of fly fishing throughout Britain, and laid the track for Halford to export the art to Theodore Gordon and America.".
