Artikelbeschreibung vom Verkäufer

Original handwritten and printed bond between Christopher Tedrick and George Tedrick of Virginia and Jacob T. Towson of Maryland. Fill-in format: printed text is interspersed with handwriting in black ink. Signed in black ink by Daniel [Swearingen?], Archibald [Weaver?], Taylor [last name?], and George Tedrick. Bond on beige paper. December 3, 1802. 7 1/2" x 12." One page, complete. Small bit of handwriting on the back that affirms the bond and has the names (possibly signatures) of Towson and two witnesses, Swearingen and Weaver. Horizontal fold lines and vertical fold line at center. Document is clean and intact overall but very fragile. Splitting along the folds, slight chipping along the edges, and light foxing and age toning. Two small squares of paper are tipped in lower-right corner not affecting text. A Very Good copy. Primary source document giving insight into life of the early nineteenth century. Christopher Tedrick and George Tedrick lived in Berkley [or Berkeley?] County, Virginia and Jacob T. Towson lived in Washington County, Maryland. This is a legal bond that obligates Christopher and George to pay Jacob 600 dollars (USD) or 300 dollars if they pay by the first day of next May. Document reads as follows: "Know all Men by these Presents, That We Christopher Tedrick and George Tedrick both of Berkley [sic?: Berkeley?] County and State of Virginia are Held and firmly bound unto Jacob T. Towson of Washington County and State of Maryland in the full and just Sum of Six hundred dollars Lawful and Current Money of the State of Maryland aforesaid. To be paid to the said Jacob T. Towson or to his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assigns. To the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our Heirs, Executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals; Dated the Third Day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and two (1802); The Condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden Christopher Tedrick and George Tedrick do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Jacob T. Towson or to his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assigns, the full and just sum of three hundred dollars Money aforesaid, at or upon the first day of May next without fraud or further delay, then the above obligation to be void and of no effect, else to stand and remain in full force and virtue in Law. Sealed & Delivered in the presence of [signatures].".
