Beschreibung
A beautifully illustrated edition of this work on the development of Chintz design. In the 18th and 18th centuries, the Indian cotton-paintings, or "chintzes", shipped in vast quantities to Europe by the Dutch, English and French revolutionised taste and fashion. This work explores the history and origin of these fabrics and designs. With a catalogue of Indo-European cotton-paintings in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. In a cloth binding in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Some light bumping and occasional mark to boards. Dustwrapper in excellent condition with just some creasing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine.
