Corners bumped, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece, 48 pages of black and white plates and by cartoons and facsimiles. Map endpapers A biographical study of Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964), first prime minister of independent India, 1947-64, also providing an account of the country during his premiership. Marie Seton (1910-85), actress, biographer and film critic, had early associations with India through the service of her soldier father. In the 1930s she had worked with the Russian film maker, Sergei Eisenstein, and was later invited to India by Nehru to help in the Indian film society movement, becoming a friend of the Nehru family.
