This book is designed to serve as a convenient check-list for libraries, collectors, and dealers of the first edition points of the works of Stephen C. Foster (1826-1864). The book attempts to carry forward the previous efforts in 1915 of Walter R. Whittlesey and Oscar G. Sonneck, Library of Congress, and the monumental compilations in 1933 of Foster Hall. The 204 compositions described here include every melody or lyric known to have been written by Foster. Illustrated with over 200 title page facsimiles printed from the original Foster Hall plates.
