Author of the bestselling Tidepool and Reef, The Edible Seashore, Guide to the Western Seashore, Shells and Shellfish of the Pacific Northwest, and the award-winning book Whelks to Whales, Harbo is a diver and a retired senior marine biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada. He is currently working as a Research Associate with the Royal BC Museum. Harbo lives in Nanaimo, BC.
