Boards sunned moderately at edges. Two very small, faint spots to rear boards. Trivial wear besides, corners sharp. Gilt on spine still lustrous. DJ spine extremities with moderate wear/ small chips. closed 1/2" tear to upper edge of front DJ. Rear upper edge with pronounced crease and small chips. Page interiors fresh and bright, crisp and with much life. Being a treatise by American artists Romare Bearden and Carl Holty on "many of the most important painting problems [.] establish[ing] continuities in the long history of picture-making by describing the methods employed by the great painters".
