In the quiet town of Hope, British Columbia, David, the youngest of seven siblings, grows up on the outskirts of town in a mobile home, surrounded by the vast wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. With an overworked mother, a gruff and distant father, and older siblings who either ignore or torment him, David learns early how to fend for himself. But beyond the struggles of his complicated family dynamic, something far stranger lurks in the shadows of his childhood. When David is visited night after night by an alien grey being, his world is flipped upside down. Is he losing his mind? Is this a dream? Or is something-someone-choosing him for a reason? His encounters leave him with more questions than answers, and as he grows older, his obsession with understanding the visitors deepens. But he isn't the only one watching. Michelle, a girl from school with her own secrets, suspects David is hiding something. Convinced his strange behavior has a deeper meaning, she and her younger sister Vanessa join Air Cadets to spy on him-only to find themselves entangled in his orbit in ways they never expected. Through the years, David navigates school, first loves, betrayals, and the challenging world of Air Cadets, where his friendship with Jason slowly turns from rivalry to resentment. Jason, born into wealth, has always had the best of everything, yet he remains jealous of David's natural charisma. What starts as playful competition slowly becomes a simmering tension that threatens to explode. As David prepares to leave Hope behind, he faces one last summer of transformation-a romance with Fiona, a girl he meets at a flight training camp, further fuels his confidence, but his mind remains restless. What is his true path? What awaits him beyond the mountains of his childhood? The answers come sooner than he expects. A call from the Canadian Military finally gives him the escape he's longed for. But as David steps into his new life, he realizes that no matter how far he runs, the past-and the visitors-are never truly gone. A blend of dark humor, supernatural mystery, and raw coming-of-age emotion, Paper Planes & Falling Stars is a deeply personal journey of resilience, love, and the search for meaning in an unpredictable universe. Fans of The X-Files, Stand By Me, and The 4400 will find themselves drawn into David's unforgettable story-one that lingers long after the final page.
