Inhaltsangabe: A "must read" book for those interested in leadership, and anyone considering an Outward Bound journey of their own as well as other OB graduates. Off the coast of Boston, July, 2008 was just like the many other summers this historic body of water has witnessed. In this historic location, surrounded by the same ramparts that protected the city of Boston from British invasion, one thirteen-year old boy began a journey that would change his life forever. An adventure that would test his strength of will, his sense of character, and his very ability to forge success from the raw materials of hard work, team building, and physical endurance. Passages describes the innermost thoughts of one who finds himself in unfamiliar surroundings, with unfamiliar faces, yet manages to build from this a life altering set of experiences that would change forever his very outlook on the world around him, and teach him the true meaning of being Outward Bound. You can also order the Black and White version of the same book for $14.99. It's also listed on Amazon. Just do a search for "Passages: One young man's Outward Bound adventure" and you'll see the B&W version. Your choice, they're both really nice.
Über den Autor: Sam Levine wrote this book, when he was a thirteen-year-old, 8th grade student, at Oak Middle School, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Sam had always been keenly interested in developing his leadership skills. At the age of 10, he founded a youth group called "Leaders of Tomorrow," which continues to organize activities designed to bring public awareness to social causes, and make a positive impact on the community around them. In the summer of 2008, Sam opted to put his physical abilities to the test, and further develop his leadership skills, by enrolling in a rigorous twelve day Outward Bound expedition, based out of Boston Harbor. This course combined a group of ten young boys from around the country, for two weeks of sea kayaking between the different islands of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park, along with rope climbing, and other activities. The experience was brutally challenging, yet was nothing short of life altering, and following his return he decided to author his first full-length book about the adventure. It is his hope that others will learn from his experiences, and follow in his footsteps by enrolling in an Outward Bound course near them, and will be able to take from their course the same amazing lessons that he has learned, which will truly change forever their outlook on the world around them. Foreward by John Read, President, Outward Bound USA.
