Second edition, frontispiece, 194pp., fold-out map and fold-out chart to rear, 11 black and white plates (including frontispiece), green cloth boards, titles and decoration blind stamped in gilt. Contents very good, just a little tired with a touch of foxing to the first few pages and the front hinge is starting. A previous owner's name appears on the title page. Covers very good with just a bit of general wear. This title captures an overview of the country and people on and beyond the Indian Frontier running from Chitral to Waziristan in Pakistan before the upheaval of the First World War. This is the second edition of the book, published in 1921, which features considerable additional information on the area. This copy was owned by Noël Louis St Pierre Bunbury (1890-1971), who was a senior British Indian Army officer during the Second World War. He served in the First and Second World Wars and was Aide-de-camp (personal secretary) to King George VI between 1943 and 1944. His inscription appears on the title page.
