Vita tells of Josefa's (or Pepita's) story: of how she made a fortune through dancing in Madrid; of her affair with a young English attaché who will become Lord Sackville; of the career of her daughter Victoria in school; bringing together a family history. This remarkable biography tells the story of the author's unlikely inheritance, that makes for an absorbing read; It is a touching and affectionate memoir. With the unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with a frontispiece. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The dust wrapper is sound with some shelf wear and edge wear, and a closed tear to the front and rear joint, tape repaired internally to the head of the spine.
