A charming personal collection of poetry and sketches from the early 20th century. Contains 24 handwritten poems or riddles, apparently original, dated between 1908 and 1931. Also with 8 drawings, some appear to be copied from other works, but some original, of varying degrees of proficiency. Drawings and poems attributed to various names, all appear to be a circle of friends at various locations, in particular Yatton, Somerset. The most frequent name to occur throughout the volume is the surname Clement. The front board has the gilt initials D. M. C. The book appears to belong to a member or members of the Clement family, with contributions from friends and family, particularly A. G. Clement, E. W. Clement and J. W. Clement Other names in the volume are: A.E. Busby, N. B. Sheath, Celia Sowsey, E. R. Hayes, D. E. Hayes, A. E. Watt, H. Morgan Clement, L. Neunham, E H Pope, J. M. Rolls, D. H. Ellis, A. and J.R. Taylor, A. F Bailey, J. E and W. M Wing and V Wight. In a straight grained morocco binding with decorative pastedowns and endpapers. Gilt lettering to front board reading 'Album' and 'D. M. C' Externally, smart with some light rubbing. Light marks to boards. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright, varying colours with handwritten poetry and drawings throughout.
