Containing letters written home to his wife over 40 years ago, (which were kept by his wife through it all), Thrasher's story reveals his love for his family, but also the human being behind the gun sight of a fighter.

This wide-reaching and inspiring true narrative of an ex-Vietnam War fighter pilot has something for everyone. It is a tale of battle, family, and hardships. But, most of all, it is a tale of love of family and country.

About the Author: Gary Thrasher served seven years in the U.S. Air Force, following his combat tour in Vietnam with a three-and-a-half-year tour in Germany. He left the Air Force in 1970, returned to Nebraska with his family that grew to include six boys, and started a career in banking. He became the chief operating officer of Nebraska s largest bank, then CEO of a major label printing company in Omaha. He remains active in banking as chairman of a Kansas bank holding company. He and his wife, Carole, divide their time between homes in Bellevue, Nebraska, and Tubac, Arizona, and a hunting cabin on an island on the Platte River.
