Richard De Aungerville (surname De Bury, 1287-1345) was one of the earliest known book collectors. He wrote this treatise in Latin, inventing a word to indicate his love of books, and hoping to instruct in proper librarianship. Uncommon thus.This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition, which was LIMITED to 600 copies (each copy is numbered as one of the 600 years since the book's completion). The translation is by Andrew Fleming West. Tan cloth binding with a leather spine ruled in gilt. Clean text; 80 pages. A lovely book; the only defect is that the spine leather has dried and is cracked; now protected by an archival sleeve. No dustjacket; with the original slipcase. Size: 8vo - over 7�" - 9�" tall.
