Oblong small quarto measuring 11" x 7". String-tied brown leather over stiff paper boards. Contains 367 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2.5" x 3.5" and 4" x 6" with captions. Very good album with edgewear with near fine photographs. A photo album kept by a well-to-do couple in California in the 1930s. The album is full of better than average amateur photographs following "Brownie" and Genevieve throughout their travels in California beginning in 1932. The album opens with a message from Brownie which reads, "love and memories to a little sweetheart, Brownie Christmas 1933." It appears the collection was started as a Christmas present for Genevieve from Brownie and she continued to add photos throw 1937. Many of the photos show Genevieve posing around their Los Angeles home in fashionable outfits. She also frequently is shot sitting or posing around their car. One section shows Brownie and Genevieve posed on a snow topped mountain in Big Pines, California. Genevieve is photographed in a beautiful dress in a garden with the caption "graduation dress and wraps October 1932." They visited the beaches at Santa Monica and Long Beach with photos of them posed in bathing costumes and sun bathing. Some photos show the aftermath of an earthquake in Compton in 1933. They visited a fair in San Diego in 1935, the California Pacific International Exposition. In 1935 they also took a trip to Big Bear with images showing the cabin they stayed in and new puppies that were born. Another section shows the couple and Genevieve's mother posed around cacti in Palm Canyon. The album ends with aerial photographs of Lake Elsinore in 1937.
