Oblong small quarto measuring 9.5" x 7". Spiral bound black paper lacking boards. Contains 45 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2.5" x 3" and 3" x 4.5" with captions. Very good album with loose pages, small tears, and curled edges with near fine photographs. A photo album kept between 1939 and 1940 of places in Georgia and Florida. Only one photo is from Georgia and shows a "park at Brunswick, Georgia 1939." Most of the photos are from Florida beginning with Fort Marion in St. Augustine, Florida followed by Castle Hill. They visited friends at their "Italian" style house. One photo shows two men in an orange grove which reads, "Kris and Howard after â dem oranges." Many of the photos are of West Palm Beach with images of wildlife including "Jensen Pelicans" and "broadbills." They also visited Jupiter Island Yacht Club and beach and photos are seen here of the men with their catch from fishing. There are photos of the Parochial School at West Palm Beach, a residence in the town, and a church on Jupiter Island. The final pages shows marine life including a sting ray and porpoises seen on a tourist boating trip to "feed the porpoises." A modest but interesting collection of a 1940s trip to Florida.
