Oblong small quarto measuring 11" x 7". String-tied black leather over stiff paper boards. Contains 239 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 2" and 5" x 7" with captions. Very good album with worn edges and rubbing with near fine photographs. A family photo album kept between 1918 and 1920 of a family from Long Island, New York. The album opens with the summer of 1918 where the family traveled to vacation in Ventnor and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Later in the year they visited Ambler, Pennsylvania with photos of small children playing around a family home and posed in front of a car. In October of 1919 the family visited Charles "Chas," Fulle, an evangelical radio host at his home. There's a photo of Fulle with two of the family's young children posed in the yard of his home. There are winter scenes from January of 1920 with children sledding and posing with their parents in snowdrifts. The summer of 1920 was spent at the seaside with photos of boating, looking for shells, and posing on the beach. One photo shows the family watching a school of porpoise, another shows them posed on rocks in Long Island Sound. The end of the album is uncaptioned but shows people posed at their home, on road trips, and continuing to visit the beach. There is a section of interesting boating photographs showing the family posed together and candids of them sailing. Later they are also seen on a horse farm with photos of horseback riding. Additionally laid in are three pictorial postcards from the Hamilton Dome Oil Fields in Wyoming. An interesting collection of family snapshots over three years. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 411552
