Beschreibung
Oblong quarto measuring 10.5" x 7". Brad-bound album lacking the boards. Contains 66 photographs in a combination between cabinet cards, platinum prints, tintypes, albumens, cyanotypes, and gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 2" and 5" x 7" with captions. Good only without boards with near fine photographs. A photo album beginning in 1878 with the birth of R.H. Glover to his parents Russell Glover Sr. and Nan C. Glover. The album begins with a photo of the family home followed by tintypes of the newborn R.H. Glover and a tracing of his hand and a lock of his hair. From there the album follows R.H. and his family with photos of the baby at 4 months, 15 months, 2 ½ years, and continues from there. They have him photographed professional with images of him in staged snow scenes in a sled and with a shovel, in a studio in nice cloths, and later with his younger brother Phillip. Interspersed through the studio portraits are images of the family's travels including to Yellowstone Canon, Baltimore Maryland, and Massachusetts. A candid from 1896 in Boston shows R.H. and his friends in suits sitting on a couch and laughing. A cyanotype shows R.H. reclining on a couch with his friend Lane Johnson asleep on the floor next to him dated 1896. It appears that R.H. went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was studying automobiles and these photos are from that time and also include a photo from Massachusetts Avenue and the dining room of school. A group shot of the students on the steps of the front of the building is seen here as well as a portrait of R.H. Christmas in 1897. R.H. and his friends and family are also seen vacationing with photos of hiking and boating they visited Point Ripley, the White Mountains, and even horseback riding in Mexico in 1905. A portrait from March 1914 shows R.H. in Philadelphia, followed by a 1920 trip to Poughkeepsie, New York, and ends with a trip to Centerville, Cape Cod. Laid in at the end of the album in a piece of paper that reads "to be kept an hundred years 1890" as well as snapshots and family cabinet cards. An interesting look at an upper middle class family following a young man's life from birth through school and after through a varety of photo processes. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 412109
