Oblong small quarto measuring 11" x 7". String-tied black cloth over stiff paper boards with "photographs" stamped in gilt on the front board. Contains 274 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 2" and 3.5" x 6" with some captions. Very good album with some waviness and edgewear with near fine photographs. An extensive photo album kept by an Elizabeth, New Jersey family in the 1920s and 30s. The photos follow the family with images of friends and family posed around their homes, on vacation, and repairing cars. One section of photos shows a group of people posed with rifles on a hunting trip. Many of the photos show a young child held by various relatives as well as playing with other children on bikes and in the family garden. The family was Catholic and a man in a Knights of Columbus uniform is seen here as well as a parade with members of the group. Another group of photos shows a uniformed man and woman smiling and posed together, later a woman in a nurse's uniform is seen seated and smiling for the camera. The family also spent time at the Jersey shore and includes images of the family enjoying the beach and in bathing costumes and swimming the Atlantic Ocean.
