Size of sheet: 19 5/8 x 12 3/8 , size of sepia-toned, photographically reproduced image: 18 ½ x 10 ¾ . Reproduction of a fire scene along the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania river front; Monongahela House sign is visible, river boat name: Buckeye State. Artist signature in lower right-hand corner seems to be: Saml. Morrow Pittsburg. Might be a repro. of a Great Fire of 1845 scene, similar to that painted by William C. Wall in 1846 (we have been unable to find a reproduction of the Wall painting, or trace anything else regarding Samuel Morrow, or this picture). This item has been rolled for a considerable time & this has added four vertical crease lines through the printed surface; 1 tear to paper (into image) in the center of right-hand edge/margin of sheet, some other small chips & splits to the paper edges/margins; general dust soiling to margins, back of sheet, with occasional spotting. Scan shows the central portion of the image, not the signature or entire piece. Might be a one-of-a-kind reproduction, but requires proper cleaning. Provenance: from the personal collection of Pittsburgh fine arts dealer, Charles A. Wunderly, who began business in Pittsburgh around 1894. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers ABE-228086656
