Dark green buckram with gilt titles on spine and impressed gilt osprey motif (from one of the photographs) on front. Lightly rubbed corners, lightly bumped with tiny rubs spine extremities, slightly rubbed front spine fold. Lightly foxed edges. Internally front hinge starting, tanned endpaper with owner's name in pencil, 3 bent page-corners, few spots of foxing in earlier pages, else contents about as new. Illustrated with 84 b/w photographs, some combined on one plate, all present. A remarkable achievement considering the difficulties of photography in the field at that period. A lively text, often amusing. In many ways a historical document. Large book, weight 1.1kg before packaging. Overseas postage would require addition.
