large 8vo (7 x 10 in - 18.4 x 25.5 cm, leather spine and 1 inch onto marbled boards, leather tipped edges, gilt lettering on the spine, German language, half-title page, full-title page, index I-XVI, covers issues for the years 1891-1892, 28 Jahrg, issues April 1, 1891, Heft 1 through March 15, 1892, Heft 24, pages 1~390. An important technical photographic journal of the time published under the supervision of Hermann Wilhelm Vogel (1834 - 1898), one of the most important photographic chemists of the 19th century. Several text illustrations including cameras and related apparatus and devices. Contains numerous illustrations including actual photographs (all tipped to plate), photogravures, photo-lithographs, collotypes and half-tones. This issue contains an unusual color halftone plate which is called a "Chromotypie." Major plates are: "Winterlandschaft aus dem Rabenaueer Grunde bei Dresden" photograph, "Aufnahme aus dem K. Schauspielhause zu Berlin bei Magnesium-Blitz-Lich" photograph, "Von Anthropologen-Kongress in Danzig, 1891" photograph, "Portratstudie" photograph, "Il Lago del Mandrome" photograph, "Svartidden-Gletscher in Norwegen" photograph, "Kostumstudie" photograph,"I Fulmini di Brenta" photograph, "Chromotypie" color halftone printed directly on the page and tissue guard protected, "Portratstudie" photogravure, "Am Landwehrkanal in Thiergarten zu Berlin" photogravure, "Monentaufnahme aus Capri" photogravure, "Lm Thiegarten" photogravure, "Portratstudie" collotype, "Auf dem Lande" collotype, "Mandolinata" photo-lithograph, "Mai" photo-lithograph, "Moment-Aufnahmen aus der Kreisstadt Jampol in Podolien, Sud-Russland" photo-lithograph, "Portratstudie" photo-lithograph and "Strandszene aus Helgoland" photo-lithograph. I have seen the photographs referred to as albumen photographs but I believe that is incorrect. They appear to be the gelatin or collodian printing out paper process. ~ Condition. The book is in very good condition. The head and foot of the spine and the leather tips are heavily worn. Internally a few lines and other notations but otherwise clean. Binding is tight. One photograph is 1/2 loose from the linen strip attaching the plate to the binding. A couple of pages have tears but none into the text area. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1892060825a
