Part of an eight volume set of Shakespeare volumes, but complete in themselves. Complete in 2 volumes. No date c1840. Includes line drawings within the text. Vol.I-xcii+211pp, Vol.II-vi+390pp. Tan full-leather boards with gilt decoration to edges and spine. Spine has four slightly raised bands and originally had a red and black title plate, the black plate on Vol.I containing a list of plays within has partial loss and is becoming detached, both plates of Vol.II are detached though the titles plate is held inside the book. Boards have some rubbing to extremities and slight rubbing to surfaces. End papers and all page edges are marbled. Boards and text-blocks tight and fully attached, and pages are in good condition with little if any foxing. . Bookplate of William Dashwood Fane (1816-1902) barrister and descendant of the founder of the Hellfire Club to fixed end papers of both volumes.
