Inhaltsangabe: Always a dawdler, Pig William misses his ride to the school picnic but in a sudden turn of events the picnic comes to him.
From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 2 William's three older siblings try to get him to get out of bed, bathe, get dressed and have breakfast in time to catch the bus for the school picnic. But William, who walks to the beat of his own drummer, dawdles in bed, talks to himself and makes funny faces in the mirror, then has a leisurely time in the overflowing tub. Afterwards, he feeds his fish Pinky and tells him a story. Inevitably, William misses his bus, but he makes his own picnic, only to be joined by his siblings when the class party, naturally, is rained out. Brightly colored cartoon illustrations, sometimes divided into smaller panels, are full of humorous detail to balance the minimal handprinted text within dialogue balloons. The buck-toothed pigs, charmingly pictured on spreads showing dozens of them romping at the picnic, have a lot of vitality. Pig William is extremely childlike as he doggedly and cheerfully pursues his morning routine and rituals, unconcerned by the passing of time. Parents of children who have their own self-set pace and ritualized activities will find this slice-of-life portrayal wonderfully funny. Children themselves will love it.
