0253348501 2007 Indiana University Press (Bloomington, Indiana), 8 7/8 x 11 3/8 inches tall x 2 inches thick green buckram cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, gilt lettering to spine, red endpapers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs, xxi, 636 pp. Very slight rubbing to covers, with minor bumping to the upper edge of the front cover. Very slight marginal soiling to a couple of pages, and a couple of creased page tips. Otherwise, a very godd copy - clean, bright and unmarked - in a slightly edgeworn dust jacket with a couple of minor edge tears but which is nicely preserved and displayed in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~QQQ~ [7.0P] Clark County, in southern Indiana - located directly across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky - has grown from a handful of small settlements and scattered farms at the Falls of the Ohio into a sprawling metropolitan region, but it remains a close-knit community with a strong sense of place. Über diesen Titel

"Carl E. Kramer provides readers with a model county history.... He brings together in one person and one volume the outsider and the insider-the historian who objectively and carefully studies the past using the best sources available and the writer who knows and loves his home community." -from the foreword by James H. Madison "An excellent example of what a county history can be. It is well-written, well-researched, and its assertions are backed with proper evidence and citations. Kramer draws connections to important events in Indiana history as well as to events in the Louisville area that had major impacts on the development of the county. As such, he makes a major contribution to the history of southern Indiana." -Indiana Magazine of History
