Inhaltsangabe: "The Plunderers" is an exciting novel that draws attention to ivory and rhino horn smuggling between Angola and South Africa during the reign of Jonas Savimbi. In a vivid writing style, author Jan Breytenbach details how corruption in the upper echelons of government in both countries nearly drove the elephant and rhino to extinction along the boarder of Namibia and Botswana. In this thrilling tale, a local game ranger is forced to become a fugitive and goes into hiding among the Bushmen who work with him to save the dwindling herds.
Über den Autor: Colonel J.D. Breytenbach DVR, SD, SM, MMM, joined the South African Army (Union Defence Force) in 1950. He was commissioned three years later and led a varied and somewhat legendary career in the military. He also served as nature conservationist in Western Caprivi by the SWA Department of Conservation. It was during this period that Breytenbach became aware of the large-scale ivory and rhino horn smuggling via clandestine military intelligence supply line to UNITA. He retired to Sedgefield with the rank of colonel, to write books. He was decorated four times for bravery and leadership in action.

Buchbeschreibung Covos Day, Johannesburg & London, 2001. Paperback. Buchzustand: Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. 322 pages (complete). Signed by (General) Jan Breytenbach on the title page (dated: 26 November 2010). A not altogether surprising detour from Breytenbach's normal themes. This book is about the betrayal of the Bushmen of Southern African by politicians and generals. Breytenbach worked with the Bushmen people during the South African war with Angolan, Cuban and SWAPO forces. A most smart copy. The covers are agreeably neat. They have some very, very light wear to the edges. The pages are very clean, very clear, very certain - as if almost new throughout. fk. Signed. Buchnummer des Verkäufers bsac
