Chapter One
Letting GoToo many days I've missed through mere neglect,
Yet not a one can resurrect itself.
So would it help to chastise, to correct
The lackings of my own mistaken self?
What is past is dead just like the hating heart.
It seems I must now make some other start.
I'll gaze up at the sky and take it in.
A new perceiver of the world I'll be.
It's just a case of trying to begin
And focusing the eyes to clearly see.
Yet would I not be trying way too hard?
The deck will play itself by every card.
So I'll let the days be just the way they are
Without inserting me to make a change.
Then I'll see how much and just how far
I'll go along this rich and valued range.
What is – do not disturb, don't interfere.
Watch out if you begin to even care.
Again, I find myself empty and lost.
Just what am I attempting to do?
It seems I can't escape the pay, the cost
Of living in the world of strife, so blue.
I guess I've known this all along the way:
There's nothing to be done, the past won't stay.
Work Out
Oh, the times when we lose it completely.
Our anger rises to rage.
We're lost in the thought: "How others can treat me!"
Will we ever just turn the page?
We never intended to blow up, exploding,
As a balloon filled too much does pop.
But still we allow all our fear and emoting
To continue, not able to stop.
The issue's so high we seek to enshrine it.
"Who wouldn't get furious?" we ask.
The real, important thing, we just can't find it.
But to be sure, this is really our task.
A button was pushed, a topic so ancient
That we don't even think of its place,
Yet all along it is something within us
That just latent needs to be faced.
"No need for regret," we'll say to our insides.
"We're all only human," it's true.
We all of us go for a while on these rides.
Work it all out, and you'll say, "How I grew!"
It's there to be had. What? You knew?
A Mexican Beauty
She's soft and so tender,
And she knows how to touch you.
She makes everything right,
And she loves you and lifts you.
Her beauty's forever,
Her mind's marked by clarity.
She knows who she is.
She gives with true parity.
She loves the warm sand.
The beach, it will cool her.
As her temperature climbs,
Don't try to school her.
I look in her eyes,
Her face it is glowing.
She wears no disguise.
Her truth keeps on flowing.
Poor Stephen
Poor Stephen leans against my head, this night.
His death was likely painless, it is told.
They said his ghastly body shunned the light.
And in its presence everyone grew cold.
They say that all the birds flew off at once,
Betraying some strange curse that marked the day.
There laughing all the time was the town dunce,
As if to mock what Steve himself did say.
But Stephen was a good lad, tried his best,
Even if he wasn't like the rest.
How Much Do You See?
When you look, how much do you see?
Do you know who's there before you?
How much do you understand the man?
Do you attend to his every word?
The man is just like you.
He wants what you, too, do.
Who will satisfy the man,
Make him love himself so much?
We all need caring love.
We cannot survive sans touch.
Lift up the man, set him free.
Show him that he's listened to.
And soar he will on angel wings
Above the drudgery there.
Filled with love he opens up.
The power for this is in you.
Give without thinking, love beyond reason.
It's the only way to be.
Love the lowest in the man over there.
And he will spring to life.
Beep!
Driving down the street one day,
I heard a "Beep-beep-beep."
Looking in the rearview glass
I saw a nasty jeep.
Filling up my mirror, now,
It left no empty space.
He was riding on my tail.
How do I 'scape this place?
"Get yourself together, here,
It's just another test.
He only wants to mess you up.
Don't be just like the rest.
"Ride along slow as you please,
And let him do his thing.
He is not your Master, no,
So don't you feel the sting."
We traveled for awhile and he
Just stayed stuck to my car.
Beeping now and then, he kept
The pressure up so far.
I knew just what to do for
I'd seen this type before.
Slowly turning to the right
I let...
