I think you would enjoy reading these poems, as I have written them from my heart. Each one has a story behind it, things that have happened in my life or someone close to me. I think you can relate to many of my writings in your own personal experiences and re-live some of these you had in your life time. I feel you can read these poems and go down memory lane and re-visit some good times and some not so good times in your own life. I hope they inspire you in a personal way that will benefit you in your every day living. This book was inspired by my grand daughter, Lisa D'Amico.

GONE I saw you across the way. But that old feelin has gone away. You said you still loved me; But I knew it was not to be.
I don't know how or why, but I have no regrets; I guess it was meant to be, that we met. I'm glad we stood the test Now we can put it to rest.
9-11
"9-11" oh what a terrible day. Our freedom threatened to be taken away. That safe secure feeling started slipping away. Terror and fright followed, day by day.
Will we ever have that safe feeling again? Will we - this terrible war - win? Let's keep the "Faith" and believe in "Him". "He" will give us a Victory Win.
A MOMENT
Words and looks a smile, a touch. Who would have thought they would mean so much. A look across a crowded room. Could make a heart - go boom - boom. Why? I will never know. Just know it was and is so.
A TUNE
There are songs of joy and songs of woe; You hear them where ever you go. Listen to the words, listen to the tune. Gaze at the stars, gaze at the moon. Life is what you make it my friend. Choose your own tune, determine your end.
ADVICE
Put water in the kettle, make a spot of tea, Make your home a place where people like to be. Never, never go to sleep mad. Then in the morning you will be glad.
Learn to really like each other, Be more than just a lover. And please, don't hog the cover. Learn to listen to each other.
Take care of the little things in life. Then you will eliminate quarrels and strife. Remember, you are husband and wife. I pray you will have a blessed life.
ALWAYS
I see the sunset at the end of the day. And I think of how you so quietly slipped away. You were here and then you were gone. Like the words and melody of a love song.
Life is full of moments and events. Some seem as if they are heaven sent; Oh! Such lovely times we had, How could I ever feel lonely or sad.
You left me so many beautiful things to remember. All thru our life from May to December. Our love was one of a kind. I'll always have you in my heart and mind.
IN MEMORY OF MY LOVE DOUGLAS RAY MESSEL
AN OBSERVATION
Sunlight dancing through the trees; People praying on their knees. Time moving on, unaware What's going on here or there.
Clouds roll by on their way. Paying no attention, whether night or day. Rain coming down everywhere. Acting as if it had not a care.
And the people live day after day Accepting the things that come their way. Get up at sunrise, to bed at night What a life, it's ok; everything is alright.
BYE BYE
I thought I wanted you, but "I do not". All you want from me is trot - trot - trot. You require too much from me. I can't give you that much energy.
So I think I'll just put you in a fold. And save you, for when I really get old. "Bye-Bye Tread mill" Hello - rocking chair. I know you love me you really care.
BYE BYE
Memories of tears and laughter. Memories of days here and here after. I've got to make some new ones for sure; The old ones are not gonna be the cure. Got to get my bonnet on and hit the road. There's more life out there, gotta find the code. I know it's not here in my easy chair. It's not in people, even though they care. I've got to do it by myself, alone; "Hello Life", I'm thru with this moan and groan.
BYE BYE
I've had a wonderful life, don't grieve for me. When I leave this place, I'll be where I want to be. No more lonely days, no more lonely nights. I'll just go soaring to greater heights.
Where all is love and joy and peace. Oh! What a wonderful release. "Good - bye World" "Hello - Peace"
CHANGE
I changed the part in my hair. You would have thought I'd moved from here to there; I'm not the person I was yesterday. There's a hair keeps getting in my way.
I look in the mirror and oh me! Oh my! I just waved the old me, a fond good-bye. Now when I get up in the morning it's a brand new day. Since I parted my hair a brand new way.
CHRISTMAS
Well here it is, Christmas is here. What happened to the passing year? Time is passing like a thief in the night. Robbing us of moments, it's just not right. But then we must remember, Christmas is not about me. It's all about "Him, that's the way it should be" So let us rejoice and be glad. Glad for the moments we've had.
COME HOME CHILD
We wonder and we ask why? Who chooses who will live or die. Although we know the answer loud and clear And we really have no cause to fear.
For God is in control and we trust "His Way" And thank Him for forgiveness "He" has for us each day. "He" loves us when we are good or when we are bad. When...
