A magnificent exemplar of an exceedingly scarce item in the trade, there being no additional copies available on-line of this near unique item, bound in Japanese vellum and on hand-made, fine paper--one of only seven copies printed thus. Beveled vellum boards, with gilt-stamped lettering to cover and spine, publisher device at front cover, original brown silk linen ribbon ties, fully intact. Title-leaf printed in gold (including publisher's device on title-page, the publisher device). Rough-cut fore- and bottom-edges, gilt top edges. Arthur Romney Green (16 February 1872 ? 21 February 1945) lectured on poetry and was friends with other poets and writers but was better known as English craftsman and furniture designer, based in Christchurch, Hampshire. His furniture carries influence of the Arts and Crafts style, popularized by William Morris in the 1880s. His works continue to be exhibited in New Zealand. A. Romney "was the elder brother of the English architect William Curtis Green." He also taught mathematics at Cambridge University but then decided to concentrate on furniture design and woodwork. He authored leading manuals and textbooks, including Woodwork in Principle and Practice in 1918 (Wikipedia).
