A collection of the poems of Samuel Rogers with an illustrated title page and illustrative head and tail pieces throughout. Samuel Rogers (1763 - 1855) was an English poet, during his lifetime one of the most celebrated, although his fame has long since been eclipsed by his Romantic colleagues and friends Wordsworth, Coleridge and Byron. His recollections of these and other friends such as Charles James Fox are key sources for information about London artistic and literary life, with which he was intimate, and which he used his wealth to support. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. In a calf binding. Externally, generally sound but with front board detached, some wear to extremities and occasional marks and stains to boards. Internally, text block firmly bound but with first few pages detached but attached to front board.
