The thirteenth impression of this collection of poems by Victorian critic, editor, and poet, William Ernest Henley. Although the volume does not contain Henley's most famous poem 'Invictus', it opens with Henley's observations of the plights of patients in the hospital beds around him in the hospital poems. Ink inscription to recto of front free endpaper reads, 'Rosamund Jay. London, 1914.' Binder's sticker to front pastedown. Bound by Hatchards in Piccadilly. In full calf binding.
