first edition. 8vo, in fours. ( 182mm. ) Pp. [5] vi - viii, [3] 4 - 142 [2]. With a half - title. All edges marbled. An ex - Kendal Public Library copy and surprisingly very clean, few faint oval library stamps and accession numbers on the recto and verso of the title pages. Sixteen page Subscribers List at the end. Book block cracked before the half title, occasional very light spotting. Contemporary diced calf over boards, corners bumped with the boards showing through, the covers with a gilt gilly role frame, sometime rebacked with the original backstrip re-laid, white ink dewey ( ? ) number at the foot of the spine, new yellow endpapers. This is one of the very few books to come from the press of John Soulby in Ulverston.
