A collection of poems and other writing bound together; presumably by a private individual. In particular, the poetical works of Sir Walter Scott (including the Lady of the Lake) and Robert Burns (songs, ballads and poems) feature. But also works by the Rev. George Crabbe and Henry Kirke White; as well as dissertations on Nature and Art, The Reasonableness of Christianity, A Discourse on Miracles. Attractive half leather boards with marbled facing. They, and the spine (raised bands), are a little scuffed in places. The leather veneer along the boards' outer hinges, front and back, has a closed 130mm tear from the head of the spine downwards. Marbled edges. Internally, the pages are tanned with some spotting; mainly, but not exclusively, located on the preliminary pages. Each section is separately paginated. Undated, but internal evidence and binding style suggests early/mid 19th century. 8vo.
