A little foxing to the front and rear, but generally very clean inside. The complete poetical works, previously published in 10 volumes of the Lakeland romantic poet Robert Southey. Contemporary and friend to both Coleridge and Wordsworth. Popular in the 19th century, his work has been subsequently been overshadowed by both of them. His subjects were wide ranging including historical figures such as Joan of Arc and Wat Tytler, the Slave Trade (he was anti-slavery), ballads on a variety of subjects, lyrical poems on the nature of life, loss, beauty and so forth.
