Charlotte Augusta Frederica Somerset (1816-1850, married 1844 Philipp Baron de Neumann) was a daughter of the seventh Duke of Beaufort, and elder sister of Georgiana Charlotte Anne Somerset (1817-1884), who in 1836 married Christopher William Bethell Codrington, of Dodington, five miles from Badminton; Mary Bethell Codrington (1801-1887) was his elder sister. Good. This is an unauthorised collection, with the frontispiece portrait by Wedgewood (after Carruthers), issued in France without the permission of Wordsworth or his publishers. The text was taken from a British edition released in 1827: while there is no printed year of release in this version, its notoriety allows for its accurate dating. This scarce Parisian edition published in 1828 was copied from the first edition of 1827 without authority from William Wordsworth or his publishers (Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green). The 12-page catalogue printed on yellow paper, and featuring titles published by A. and W. Galignani has the following heading: "New Works Just Published, at one-third to one-eighth of the London prices." Binding rubbed, with some abrasion to spine. Head and tail of spine partly chipped. Previous owner's name in ink at upper margin of title page. Minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Pages 113-120, and 225-240 age-toned. Clear water-staining from page 277 on.
