A superb, bright copy of this generous history and detailed overview of the history and potential of the Port of New Orleans, housed in a handsome binding with great shelf appeal. Prepared by the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors, this is one title in a series of reports on major US ports created in preparation of prospective war utilization. The wealth of information contained is astounding; the fold-out photo of the Mississippi as it flows through New Orleans, measuring 29.5" x 16.5", is impressive. Taken at 10,000 feet by the US Army Air Service, 1922, and compiled as a mosaic covering 51 square miles, the detail contained is belies its age. An uncommon book, verging on rare.
