Inhaltsangabe: Life is a journey. In Portrait of a Lady, Christina McCourt traces the journey of her grandmother with a stunning quilt that features blocks that represent the different stages of a woman's life. Along with the featured quilt there are five other projects that build on the Portrait of a Lady blocks: Brides' Bouquet, Auntie's Bed Quilt, Mother's Throw, Nanny's Table Runner, and a Love and Home Wall Hanging that celebrate a woman's journey through life.
About the Author: Christina McCourt grew up in the small town of New London in northeast Missouri, where she still lives, just one block from her childhood home. She lives with her husband and four children. In addition to designing quilts, she is also a substitute teacher.
She grew up watching her grandmother and mother making quilts and other craft projects. The quilting bug didn't hit until 2001, and then it was quite by accident. She asked for a sewing machine for her birthday with the intention of making dresses for her pre-school daughter. She quickly found out that she did not have the skills to make clothes, so she decided to try making a quilt. It was a small Irish chain quilt. Her grandmother quilted it for her on her mid-arm quilting machine.
In 2008, she had bought some fabric and could not find a pattern she liked to go with it, so she sat down and designed a quilt. Now, she is a quilt designer and has been published in numerous magazines.

Buchbeschreibung Kansas City Star Books. 1 Paperback(s), 2013. soft. Buchzustand: New. Looking to her vivacious, musically talented grandmother Alma Lucille as a model, quilt designer Christina McCourt created this pieced-block quilt to celebrate the many stages in a woman's life. The eight blocks in Portrait of a Lady—Baby Bunting, Schoolgirl, Aunt's Favorite, Bride's Bouquet, Mother's Choice, and Grandmother's Cross, with Home and Heart blocks—are set with patchwork and flying geese blocks, and would be ideal as block-of-the-month subjects for a quilting class or circle. Family photos and memories of Alma Lucille appear throughout the book, which also includes five additional quilt projects based on the blocks. 64. Buchnummer des Verkäufers 63489
