They have each published widely in the field of post-colonial studies and are joint authors of the highly influential The Empire Writes Back: Theory and Practice in Post-Colonial Literatures (Routledge, 1989; second edition 2002) and Key Concepts in Post-Colonial Studies (Routledge, 1998).
