Thin 4to. viii, 57 pp. Fifth edition, "considerably improved". Engraved frontispiece and nine plates of chess boards; two diagrams in text. Contemporary half leather, spine in gilt; pebble-grain cloth sides. Spine a tad sunned, some light rubbing else this is a very good copy. The engraved plates have offset to the facing pages and there is a bit of light staining to the textblock. The plates illustrated the march and mode of the various pieces as well as the opening of the game.
