Beschreibung
A legal work (commentaries) by Roberto Maranta (1490 - ca. 1535), an Italian jurist. The title page has a vignette (a woodcut with an allegorical figure). Pages are decorated with several initials and headpieces. The front endpaper has an old bookplate (slightly effaced) with a coat of arms. Full title: "Praxis, seu de ordine iudiciorum tractatus, vulgo speculum aureum, et lumen advocatorum, dictus, clarissimi jureconsulti, domini Roberti Marantae, practici celeberrimi. Cui, ultra additiones Petri Follerii, IC clarissimi, hac nova editione, aliae in super ex celeberrimis nostri temporis practicis, plus quam ducentis in locis, adiectae, & hos signo [] inclutae sunt, studio et opera Ioannis Rulandii." /// Parchment binding with leather laces; hardback, [72]+711+[1] pp., 8° (18 x 24 cm), parchment worn and faded, with a few tiny spots&stains and tiny bookworm traces, backstrip has a barely visible title written with pen, front free endpapers worn, with large bookworm traces, several leaves have tiny bookworm traces, some leaves have small water stains (see a photo for the worst condition), title page and back endpaper have old pen marginalia, edges faded, with tiny ink stains, leather laces seem to be much later than vellum (although they are skilfully fixed by a bookbinder), condition: good Book Language/s: Latin.
